I operate my own VPN server using L2TP with a preshared key on Windows Server 2016. It functions properly until recently. I relocated the server to another location, thinking it would be straightforward. Everything else—port forwarding, DNS configuration, etc.—appears correct. Testing from my phone works fine. The tricky issue arises when connecting via Windows: a connection attempt fails due to a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote machine. No major changes were made to the setup, yet two Windows machines can't connect anymore. I've verified registry entries, services like IKE and AuthIP IPsec, VPN adapter checks, and port forwarding settings (ports 500, 4500, 1701). Recently, updating the DNS record helped, restoring functionality.
