We are a modest business that owned a server five years ago. It faced problems that suggested retiring it and replacing it or switching to a peer-to-peer network. We chose peer-to-peer after downsizing and setting up a home office. We manage six drive locations across the network. P: I: J: L: H: F: Our personal files include school documents and other pictures. After moving to peer-to-peer, all six locations worked on computer "A". That configuration was stable, but the main issue arose when we tried to export projects from our BIM program to a rendering tool for 3D walkthroughs. The process slowed down significantly even after upgrades. We moved the drives to another machine "B". Now we can only access files via network drive P: from computer "A", and we can’t easily reach the other locations. We’re considering returning to a server to host emails and a website, or fixing the old server. We’re unsure which path to take.
