Microsoft has continued sharing updates regarding Windows 7 and 8 users transitioning to Windows 10. The process involves obtaining a new key or using the existing one, depending on your setup. Many are considering upgrading to SSDs and planning to keep Windows 8.1 on the main drive while adopting Windows 10 on newer hardware.

I expect we’ll receive a complimentary upgrade key similar to what’s offered for Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. It’s likely a Microsoft email containing the download link and the key. I’m not sure how they decide who qualifies to get it, but I think they’ll inform us before officially launching the new operating system.

They believe the existing key will simply carry over. This occurred with Windows 8.1 users who upgraded from 8 for free.

Essentially, your Windows OS key will transform into a Windows 10 key unless you're using Enterprise.

Directly to the point. I understood they wouldn't share much until the launch. That makes sense; maybe we just need to watch. Would an optional update be delivered straight to your PC, similar to what happened with Windows 8 to 8.1?

They understand why Enterprise keys aren't being upgraded. If Microsoft were serious about the company, they wouldn't be taking such profits.

Hello, this would be a complimentary upgrade to Windows 10 for one year, after which it will become a paid service. Current pricing information is still pending.
