Windows 10 issues when you connect to the internet.
Hey there! Let's break this down. You've got a PC with a recently updated GPU and a new M.2 SSD. You installed Windows using an offline installation USB, which worked fine for setting up the old driver and installing Windows on the new drive. Now you're facing problems when connecting to a wired internet via Ethernet. After a few minutes, the system crashes and won't boot properly, even after restarting. You can log in with a local account and restart normally, but the connection drops after a short time. You mentioned it's been running quietly for about an hour without issues.
Could this be related to network instability, driver conflicts, or something with the new SSD? I'm here to help you figure it out!
Your device stops working immediately after connecting the LAN cable. This suggests an issue with the hardware or its drivers. There’s no other possible cause. Inspect the LAN port physically—perhaps a short circuit occurs when the cable is inserted. Please take a picture of your LAN port.
Thank you for your responses. I've included the attached picture of the Ethernet port and the cable. I plan to install Windows using the cable connected while the modem is off to check for any short circuit issues. Concerning drivers, my initial idea was that once the system connects to the internet, a driver would install and cause a crash. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to verify this. Could you guide me on a safe way to locate and install my drivers? I have another laptop available.
You've successfully completed the installation steps without any problems so far. The issues you encountered later appear to be related to driver conflicts. Once you have a stable internet connection, Windows should automatically download and install the necessary drivers. If that doesn't resolve the crash, try uninstalling all drivers one by one to identify the problematic ones.
