I was thinking about getting the pro version of my current OS. It might restore some control for me. A recent update ran even though my internet is limited, which made things worse. I installed Windows Update Assistant, Microsoft Edge, and changed my search bar back to Cortana. I prefer paying for Windows 10 instead of dealing with these issues all the time. Every forced update feels like it takes time to reset everything and turn off unwanted features like privacy settings and data collection. I really miss my old PC running Windows 7 Pro.

Windows 10 Pro allows postponing some updates temporarily. It won’t prevent updates entirely, except for LTSB releases that remain on the same Windows version for a decade.

It seems I’m still getting used to this operating system compared to the ones before. I thought I had a solid grasp on everything, but now it feels different. Small changes like the search bar clicking at the bottom, plus Cortana suggestions and reminders appearing unexpectedly, have really confused me. I’ve tried adjusting settings multiple times, but it just doesn’t return to how it was before.
