I just reinstalled the windows. Everything seemed fine until I moved the Microsoft Edge shortcut into the trash. The background instantly turned black. I checked the personalize settings and it only lets me adjust the accent color of menus—not the background. There’s no option to change the backdrop either. I made sure Windows was activated, but what’s happening?

Have you attempted Windows updates and a restart occasionally, though it hasn’t worked for you only on Windows 7?

I managed to revert the background. It had been fixed with a solid color, but I’m still puzzled about why removing the shortcut triggered this change.

It seems there might be an issue, perhaps a glitch. They're frustrated and are asking you to use Edge.
