I started my PC this morning and noticed a warning from Win10 about CPU-Z not being compatible with this Windows version. It chose to uninstall the program along with other unwanted software that Microsoft doesn’t support, swapping them with their own applications. Even AMD Catalyst Control Centre was gone, replaced by its own Windows drivers. I looked for solutions but found no one discussing this issue. It seems this problem has been quietly occurring during uninstalls, sometimes affecting Steam games too. It would be helpful if someone could find a way to prevent it. Honestly, this feels like some serious misconduct on Microsoft’s part. If this is the end of Windows updates, they clearly don’t understand what they’re doing. As Torvalds put it: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/12/23/75 I think if an update breaks your apps suddenly, there’s definitely something wrong with that update! You shouldn’t remove anything you don’t own. /rant

If this is a Microsoft feature and not a bug in Windows 10 then that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I think that if this is actually happening as a result of malicious code from Microsoft then this needs to be publicized. We need to let Microsoft know that we won't stand for this kind of behavior. On the other hand; Microsoft knows that Windows is really the only option for computer users unless you want to use OSX or your are a wizard(Linux). In a way Microsoft has a monopoly over the operating system market, and they know it... Nevertheless if this is true and there is nothing we can do as users then I would suggest using Windows 7 or something besides Windows 10 for the time being. With that being said this could be a bug with Windows 10 or perhaps a hardware error on your end(Corrupted data or another issue). Windows 10 is relatively new and is still going to need patches and other updates to it no doubt.

It seems you're asking about something unexpected happening again. What else was taken from you without your consent?

Wow, I didn’t see your message. I put together my own today after updating yesterday, facing issues similar to yours. Goodbytes shared helpful details since I wasn’t aware updates could cause this. I was also surprised by Microsoft’s approach; it’s hard to look forward to future updates after what happened.
