I keep noticing how Microsoft tries to communicate that my "Windows 10 home edition" isn't the right version, or how I should purchase the PRO edition. The Windows 10 app store seems like a joke—my PC feels disconnected from mobile experiences, unlike macOS and its apps. They’re planning another UI update, possibly stripping out older control panels and settings menus. *sees Windows 7 skin* I want more bloatware that can’t be removed! There’s also the idea of companies adopting a mobile-like approach, offering apps for almost anything. How do people view this situation? From PWAs, app stores, seamless PC-console connections, or phones? (or another way: connecting everything smoothly across devices). I’m curious about the future of services and subscriptions, and what Microsoft might be up to now.

I own a W10pro, I avoid using the store’s app, opting instead for the control panel. I regularly remove bloatware and turn off telemetry on all my machines—results are noticeable. I don’t like Macs since I don’t want to pay three times the usual cost for my gear.

I used a script to streamline the content, not just trimming bloatware.

I favor handling tasks individually rather than relying on bulk scripts. This approach lets me stay familiar with each step, ensuring clarity if anything goes wrong. I only update my OS after initial installation and then turn off Windows Update and telemetry. I prefer not having Windows perform background activities or using the internet to apply updates, as it disrupts my control over the process.

It’s also crucial to prevent any updates or data collection from your modem’s firewall for safety, especially if you overlooked disabling something in Windows. Additionally, because I’m adjusting the firewall settings, I’m blocking all online ads, which improves browsing speed by avoiding unnecessary downloads.
