I understand. My work setup includes a 4K monitor, but I struggle with a 30-inch 2560x1600 display. Even a 24-inch 1920x1200 (true 8-bit IPS) screen feels decent, though it's probably due to my previous experience with that setup. At my Surface Pro 2, the 1080p screen looks much better. High-DPI really makes a difference. Many people don't realize how important resolution is for small screens, unlike smartphones where lower resolutions are common.
