I spent 7 hours installing Windows 10 and faced frequent freezes and slow internet. After the install finished, it required a restart. I waited around 10 minutes, then it restarted but encountered the error: 0xC1900101 - 020017 during the safe OS phase. The installation failed at that stage. I tried using the media creation tool, but I can't create an ISO on a USB drive because my cheap USB broke. I don’t have a DVD to burn it onto either. I’m really frustrated and need a quick solution. Thanks. Specs: Pentium n3530, 8Gb RAM, 1TB NVMe, Caviar Blue. Acer e5-511p.

You need a USB or DVD to start the installation, or you might attempt to transfer your HDD and create a copy of a reliable Win10 setup onto it.

I received the Windows 10 copy from an online source. The file was in the standard ISO format.

I received an EXE from the Windows site named mediacreationtool x64. I don’t know its original format. After clicking it, it prompts me to select options and then suggests upgrading my PC now. I’d like to download an ISO, but I can’t use Deamon tools for the installation.

Upgrade directly to Windows 10 without needing a boot from anything. Use the downloadable tool from Microsoft and install it through Windows. No installation to an ISO required.

I'm preparing to retrieve an ISO and boot from it. Please wait a moment.

Was the setup process flawed?
