You're considering Windows 10, and you're wondering if upgrading to Pro is necessary compared to the Home version. Since you plan to buy a new computer in about 4-6 months, you might want to check compatibility with your future product key. Installing it on the new PC should work fine as long as the product key matches what's required for that edition.

If you're unsure about a rean, professional support is the way to go. Your home setup is sufficient. Professional services offer dual socket compatibility, enhanced RAM support (128GB+), RDP server capabilities, AD join, Hyper-V integration, and Group Policy management.

If you purchase an OEM license for Windows, it will remain tied to the initial device you install it on. Make sure to install it just on your new computer. A retail box license can be transferred.

It’s going to be clear now about why OEM-licensed components can work across various motherboards. This also functioned with Windows 7, not limited to Windows 10.
