You can keep your original Windows key on another system, but you’ll need to set up a new Microsoft account for it. The old key won’t work there, so make sure to register the new one beforehand. Your current Windows 10 USB stick is fine for installation, just remember to back it up.

It seems you're checking if a term like 'illegal' is permissible. Let me know how I can assist further.

We do, but piracy violates the terms of service for using this site. The correct response is: NO, you cannot.

I bought Windows 8 in 2014 and I can't reuse my own code. What if I install it on another Microsoft account? So the same account works across multiple devices with the same code.

We need more details to determine if it's OEM or retail. Could you clarify the product or brand?

The activation is tied to the hardware ID on Microsoft's server. Once your updated installation is live, it will be detected. If it's an OEM model, you'll need to purchase a fresh license. With a retail key, you'll be directed to activate differently, transferring the key to the new device and triggering the same alert for the original machine. One key per machine.

This explains how purchases function. You can't just take items like earbuds from the shop without having bought them before.
