Windows 10, here to stir the pot.
Windows 10, here to stir the pot.
Hey everyone, I just got a 960 Evo from my girlfriend. After installing windows on my SSD for about a year, I figured it was time to switch back to Windows 10. Sounds simple, right? But it wasn’t. First, I had to download the media creation tool, unplug the SSD, and then install Windows on the M.2 drive. Not so easy, was it? The first time I installed Windows, my PC had serious display issues—even with a 1440p screen, scaling at 125% didn’t work. So I had to reinstall again. This time the PC took three minutes to restart and wouldn’t boot. Instead of waiting, I just pressed the power button and turned it on. At least the display problems were gone, drivers were reinstalled, and after a couple minutes, I finally logged in. It took about two minutes.
Hey, does anyone notice that? Windows seems to be giving me the middle finger again. No Wi-Fi, no sound. This is frustrating. I’m going to try installing Windows for the third time. For now, I’ll stick with Malwarebytes—it’s really helpful. Windows doesn’t like it, though; it keeps using Windows Defender and showing BSODs.
Error: Bad_Hedder_Something (I forgot the last part).
Alright, I’m done. You win, Windows. I’ll be back tomorrow to handle this.
Have you tried remaking you install media? Could be a possibility of your media getting corrupted by something. Secondly I would go to the relevant website and get the drivers yourself. Dont count of MS drivers if you dont have to. There is a possibility that the drive is bad. Not sure how SSD fully work, but I would assume SMART exists on them. If you can use some type of tool to pull the smart Data you can check to see if the drive is failing for some reason. Was this an upgrade to Windows 10 or a new build? If an upgrade, what version of Windows did you have before? Did your M.2 drive work with that previous version of Windows?
Sure, glad you're clear on that. Just wanted to confirm you haven’t attempted to recreate the media tool or made any changes beyond a standard Windows reinstall. Everything seemed normal with Windows 10.
Get your driver directly from the manufacturer's site rather than relying on the Windows update.
Now that I reflect, the computer might become unstable after several reboots. I plan to fix it once I'm back home. I'll keep you all informed. I also noticed I didn't choose the "new" option when asked to pick a drive for installation... Could be the issue?
