I heard about a free upgrade for Windows 10 from Microsoft. I followed the instructions and didn’t touch the system much. It started up normally, but when I tried to play a game, it reported an error and shut down. After restarting, everything worked again except the screen went blank. Once I booted again, the logo appeared but the display stayed empty. I checked for issues using diagnostics, but nothing came up. I’m stuck and don’t want to lose my files. Can you help fix this or restore me to a previous version?

Check the link provided first. If it doesn’t resolve the issue, enter save mode and refresh your drivers. Next, remove your graphics card and connect your display adapter (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc.) to the internal port. If the screen remains black, try a different graphics card. If that fails, attempt a complete reinstall of the same or an earlier Windows version. I experienced the same issue with my sister’s computer—even after turning it on, the screen stays black without showing any boot-up indicator. The root cause was a defective motherboard despite all other components functioning.

This happened since no drivers were set up and the game likely had extra libraries missing after the Windows update.
