I strongly dislike Microsoft, especially after switching to Windows 10 which has turned things upside down. Initially, I was excited to update and switch to Windows 10, then I downloaded Forza Horizon 4 for some gaming fun with friends. When I tried to launch the game, it didn’t respond properly even though it’s a Microsoft title. I thought updating my Xbox One controller would help, but it locked me into a disabled update setting that permanently damaged it. When I reached out to Microsoft support, they refused to replace or fix my controller, claiming their software broke it. I attempted to switch drivers myself, but Windows insisted on its own version, which only made things worse. I eventually used an older USB controller, which worked fine for Forza Horizon 4 and even in GTA V. However, a recent update from Windows broke the controller again. My gaming performance has also suffered—games run sluggishly, especially in titles like GTA V, and graphics settings barely improve things. Overall, I regret leaving Windows 7; everything worked smoothly back then, and now I’m constantly frustrated starting my PC. I’d prefer never having gone with Windows 7 again.
It's interesting how MS hasn't managed things well. Dos had a lot of problems, Windows 3.1 struggled with multimedia, 95 felt unstable, 98 was okay but not great, ME was average, XP seemed the most reliable, 7 was fine, 8 was terrible, 8.1 was better, 9 isn't meant for consumers, and 10... well, Windows 10. I get it’s tough supporting many hardware parts, but your controllers? Really? Still, I agree the latest update caused Ryzen systems to experience very rare stutters. I don’t know what’s going on.
I'm also noticing stuttering on my Ryzen, didn't realize this was a Windows issue. It could also be related to my hardware specs. I'm using Windows 10, which is definitely an upgrade from Windows 7, but I've turned off features like One Drive and Cortana since they don't add much value for me. Overall, I'm pretty happy with Windows 10 so far.
I have never used windows 7 as I was an Apple fanatic for a sad part of 2010-2017, and then AMD showed me the way back to the PC world. But this latest Windows 10 update has been funny. Granted my windows install is 2 years old now, and I should probably format and reinstall it, which is something that I hadnt done on my mac OS machines. the longest I had an OS install on a mac was 5 years and it ran just fine. BTW there is a hidden setting in windows 10 that allows you to "clean reinstall" windows 10 while maintaining your documents
It's stuck. When using DWM settings, it won't power on at all.
If you have a way to recover it, that would be great. But otherwise it's just stuck in update mode. It wont turn on.
