Last week I upgraded my Win 7 gaming PC to version 10, and overall it seems to be a solid operating system. It’s now running on my work PC, laptop, and main gaming rig. The problems are mainly on the gaming PC. When I try to open Explorer from the taskbar, the window appears and says "Working on it..." but it freezes for several minutes—cursor spins, no response when clicking. This happens every time I attempt to access my documents.

Additionally, with a three-monitor setup, everything works fine. The taskbar is centered on one monitor, and when I press the start button, the menu appears at the bottom left of the screen. Pressing it again brings up the main menu, but if I hover over "Shut down or sign out," the sub-menu shows up at the top, far from my mouse. When I click shut down, the PC remains inactive for a while before finally powering off, though it stays on for a few more minutes afterward.

On a related note, I’m using a 256GB SSD, with games stored on a 2TB hybrid drive and my DSLR photos on another 1TB standard drive. Everything should run smoothly, but these glitches are still bothering me.

I don't know the exact model, but it seems like the issue might be with the SSD type or firmware. You've already tried some troubleshooting steps—let me know what those were and how they turned out.

It's a SanDisk X110. I previously used a Samsung 840 with 120GB but it was too small. I tried running SFC/Scannow for folder problems, turned off the Nvidia surround, removed and reinstalled the drivers, updated them to the latest version, then re-enabled the surround to check if the start menu issue changed. Still nothing. That's all I've done so far. About four weeks before 10 came out, I did a fresh install of 7. Only Steam and a few games were installed, which shouldn't cause issues. I've upgraded around 30 PCs and laptops at work without encountering this folder problem. I can bypass the start menu issue by typing once after pressing the start key on the keyboard. It's frustrating, so I'm hoping we can find a solution together.

Ensure your SATA controller drivers are installed, especially if you're using Windows 7/8 and not Windows 10. Make sure no yellow "!" icons appear in Device Manager. If the issue remains after closing and reopening the folder, it might indicate a problem with Windows 10. Verify that Windows 10 is fully updated and check again. If the problem continues, report it through Microsoft's feedback system. A driver not responding during shutdown could suggest a need for a clean installation, which may resolve other issues as well.
