Windows 10 Files
Windows 10 Files
My computer got stuck in the automatic repair cycle and I checked every tip online, but nothing worked. I created an installation disk and reinstalled Windows, but all my files moved to a folder named "windows.old000." I’m wondering if moving everything there would restore my shortcuts and other settings to their previous state. Thanks, TahirMia.
You can't simply paste this setup. Please install each program yourself.
Yes, you might be able to save certain programs (those not dependent on the registry), but you can't duplicate the entire system. You can't copy files that are currently being used. Even then, the issues you faced would likely remain.
Restart all your applications onto the fresh setup and remove the old Windows version.
During installation it mentioned preserving your file information and relocating them to "windows.old". I recall upgrading from version 7 also created a "windows.old" file, and everything functioned fine with version 10. I thought moving the contents of the "C:" folder to match the existing files would restore things to normal. I've verified all programs are working correctly now.
