This was an unusual problem I encountered after upgrading to the RTX 2080. I hadn't installed the Fall 2018 creator's update, which is standard for obvious reasons. The Nvidia drivers worked just fine, but Origin required the Fall update for ray-tracing functionality—the main reason I purchased the GPU. After updating Windows, everything functioned properly, even though ray tracing isn’t particularly impressive. However, when Nvidia released a new driver on February 13th, I couldn’t install it. Running DDU in safe mode didn’t help, and I couldn’t get any driver updates even from older versions. I reverted the update, and the latest GPU driver worked without issues. Now I’m likely going to need to upgrade Windows back to Fall 2018 to enable ray tracing, then roll back the driver update. It’s a bit frustrating, but worth noting for others facing similar challenges.

We need 1809 units, and a spring update is on the way!
