Hello, I'm facing a problem with the parent's laptop where remote access works via RealVNC but after logging in only a black window appears. The Task Manager opens, yet Explorer.exe isn't running. When I attempt to launch Explorer.exe, it shows up briefly before crashing again. I've tried several troubleshooting steps: DISM, sfc, chkdsk, and the system rebooted without warnings. Any other solutions you recommend? Best regards.

Restart Windows and try removing the operating system to check if that resolves the issue.

I often encountered issues with a poorly executed update installation... and resolved them by doing that... if it doesn’t help, reinstalling is okay.

The issue involved Windows updates and a clash with the StartIsBack tool in the Windows 7 menu restoration utility.
