Windows 10 Ethernet connection is lagging during setup.
I came across this new challenge after re-logging into my Microsoft account due to license deactivation. I chose an auto-login option since I’m not comfortable typing a password. Now it takes a lot of time to connect, while the Wi-Fi I don’t use works instantly. I tried to figure out if there’s a solution to this issue.
Windows... The DNS Cache service might slow down the connection to the network. It can take several minutes with a large hosts file. You can disable it in different ways, often using the registry (see my notes below): turn off the DNS Service / Cache – this speeds up boot time and breaks networking connections on some systems. To disable: set the "Start" key to 4 instead of 2. For an administrator command prompt, run one command to enable (2) and another to disable (4). Be careful as it can affect other features like Windows updates. I usually revert it after updating.
