Hello! I recently purchased a PC and skipped some of the motherboard components, which I plan to upgrade later. I currently have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 board, but without the drivers—especially for Windows 10—I’m experiencing issues. The system crashes often due to problems with the northbridge. It seems Gigabyte hasn’t released drivers for Windows 10 or newer. If Windows 10 arrives, will I need to replace the motherboard or find another solution?

Typically, most users rely on Windows 10 for their devices, though there are occasional drivers for Windows 8/8.1 that fail and offer no solutions. We should monitor updates from different manufacturers or see if Intel releases standard Windows 10 drivers.

Avoid using that motherboard for an FX CPU. Those budget boards were built for dual-core Phenoms and won't work with FX 8xx models. Dispose of it and invest in a 970 or 990FX board.

You might benefit from AMD chipset drivers. Alternatively, consider using Windows 8.1 or 7 drivers.

I managed to install Windows 8 (Consumer preview) on a single-core 2003 era Celeron without any drivers or even the processor requirements Microsoft mentioned. You might be fine with Windows 10, but I’d recommend upgrading to a new motherboard just in case. (Or even switch to an Intel board too.)
