I understand how to fix icons in Windows 7 and 8, but I'm not sure it applies to Windows 10. This is what I do for Windows 7 and 8: open Task Manager → end the explorer.exe process (right-click explorer.exe → End process) → launch a command prompt window (File → New Task (Run...) → type cmd.exe) → in the prompt type %userprofile%\appdata\local → then remove the iconcache.db file using del iconcache.db /a → enter the prompt again → close the prompt by typing exit → restart explorer (File → New Task (Run...) → type explorer.exe) – now you should see the restored icons.

I ran the update. Devices checked, nothing was missed. All drivers current. Just stop worrying like it’s the worst possible situation.

I attempted using a .bat file uploaded on YouTube by someone, but it didn’t work. Here’s the link I checked: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_q...+windows+8. It seems there was no success. Would you like me to proceed with a clean installation? Thank you!

Technically, it depends on having a 1mbps connection and only 500GB of storage that's nearly full.

I haven't faced any issues with Windows 10. I moved up from Windows 8.1 Pro.
