I recently reinstalled or updated Windows 10 about a month ago. Since then, I've noticed it sometimes believes I'm not online unless I'm connected via Wi-Fi. The Windows Control Panel shows my Ethernet connection is active and internet-connected, yet browsers like Chrome, Discord, and Steam still work fine. The Xbox app also struggles with login because it needs an internet connection. This isn't a major issue—it might even be helpful since Windows doesn’t seem to send data as usual. However, I can't turn off the Xbox app’s in-game DVR feature without being online, which affects my performance in CS:GO.

This lower-right area appears to be an indicator, while steam and other components function normally.

No, I haven't run a Windows update since the reinstall.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue where Windows believes you're offline.

You may need to employ an alternative method to secure the driver and set it up manually. Avoid using an outdated version of Windows alongside Wannacry.

You could simply link to Wi-Fi using your Wi-Fi adapter and proceed that way.

Cyracus, your video doesn’t relate to my issue. I’m part of the forum and chatting on Discord with friends using the same computer that’s having the problem. My girlfriend is also on her computer without any internet or Windows issues. The article you shared seems unrelated too. Could you clarify maybe? I won’t just give you emergency repair tips in the hope they fix it.

Press Windows key + R together. In the Run dialog, enter inetcpl.cpl. Within the internet options window, navigate to the "Advanced" section, click the "Reset" button under "Reset Internet Explorer Settings." Restart your PC. EDIT; also, verify the proxy setting to automatically detect configurations (Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy).
