I've learned a lot about this topic and I have a query. Will this change the entire drive or just modify the OS files? When it becomes available, should I back up my installed applications? I use a Samsung 840 EVO as my operating system drive and have added around 2-3 games plus software such as Steam, Chrome, and Razer Synapse. I'm seeking advice since I haven't upgraded to another OS (like Windows 7) yet, despite reformatting many times. Thank you for your help.

It will likely just improve, similar to upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 without having to reinstall the entire operating system, though it's not certain.

It seems like you're suggesting a software update, though we're all aware that a complete reinstall is preferable.
