Recently I'm dealing with a really bothersome issue...audio crackling on my laptop. I attempted to reinstall Windows twice, thinking that would help...updated all drivers but still hear the audio cracking from my speakers. Anyone have any advice on how to resolve this?

Check if the sound changes when you switch to headphones, to ensure the cable isn't faulty.

even after connecting my headphones, I still notice sounds coming from speakers, especially when the system boots up...and a few times more while using the laptop.

It seems the driver might be mistaken about the Windows version used during reinstallation. Checking an earlier version for your audio device could help resolve the issue.

It might be a dirty port. I’d consider using CRC cleaner and swabbing with a qtip. Or it could be the connection dropping due to the motherboard. Is the port shaking when you plug in? If yes, USB DACs are affordable and have helped fix my audio issues.

I mentioned audio distortion from the laptop speakers... not the headphones.

Open Device Manager, select Sound, Video and Game Controllers, locate your audio device (such as Realtek High Definition Audio), right-click and uninstall it. At the top of any program, choose Action > scan for hardware changes. If issues persist, uninstall the driver and look for an updated version on your laptop's driver support page.
