I switched to Windows 10 a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. I performed a clean installation using a local account, and everything functions perfectly. It’s nice to see improvements over older versions, even with Start Back enabled. Recently, while printing something, I installed my printer and followed the new setup. It worked smoothly until I restarted the system. After logging into the control panel, I found the printer listed there. I tried using the app in the Microsoft Store, but it kept prompting me to sign in with a Microsoft account. Once I entered my credentials, it automatically redirected me to use that account and changed everything accordingly. After a restart, the printing issue disappeared. That’s great!

However, my settings have been reset. I don’t remember changing anything, but I noticed power plans and network settings appear to be cleared. If I discover more issues, I’d like an update. My main questions are: Why would Microsoft make this happen when signing in to apps? And are there other similar experiences people have shared? Any tips or fixes would be appreciated.

W10 focuses on sharing your details with MacroHard, which is why signing in is necessary for most actions.

The instructions clearly indicate you can log in only through this app. Understanding the details helps prevent confusion. You don’t need to download the app just to use your printer—it recommended a separate app for management. What device are you using?

To reach your email, you must have an account. No service will let you view all messages and will say "You figure out which is yours." The idea of accounts isn’t new. When you buy or download an app, it links to your account so you don’t have to repurchase it each time you want to reinstall it, such as on your phone.

The issues I face with Windows 10 include a non-functional compatible sound card and frequent BSOD-free crashes.

Microsoft isn't responsible for any issues with your sound card or chip, or faulty drivers. If you're having driver problems, contact the manufacturer directly or use their support forum. If they're unaware and no one reports it, don't rely on fixes. More complaints mean higher priority for updates. A new driver should be available soon.

I understand. I’m fine without using the app store if I have a local, offline account.

I completely missed sharing that it worked without the app. Just had to restart it twice more (though I’m not sure why two were needed—it seems some updates behave this way). Another quirky thing happened when I went back to my mom’s place; it linked automatically to her printer. It was a fresh OS, so I wasn’t sure how that worked, but it felt pretty cool. Not too bad, though a bit concerning.

Improvements tend to be unstable. Even after a recent setup, things often fall apart. Alright, at least it functions now.
