When upgrading components on your build, you won’t receive the OEM license. After upgrading parts, simply re-download and activate using your current key.

Receiving a retail key ensures compatibility regardless of modifications. Adjusting components is safe with retail copies. Reformatting the OS and swapping hardware may require re-entering the key for proper function. OEM keys are linked to specific motherboards. Switching CPU, GPU, RAM, etc., won't affect them, but altering motherboards might necessitate contacting Microsoft or purchasing a new OEM key.

I've never faced an issue with reactivation after moving to a different motherboard. The only typical outcome is contacting Microsoft.
