You might want to proceed with the update soon since you recently signed up for Windows 10.
Adding onto this, if all of the files have downloaded should I be expecting the notification to update soon or is it just there ready?
You can check by looking for any files or updates that appeared after the download, or by reviewing system logs for background activity.
Not everyone can access the large file simultaneously and upgrade. Doing so would strain the existing system heavily. They will eventually inform you when it’s possible. You might need to explore options to push the update, but you’ll have to search and attempt it yourself.

Choose the official media creation tool and install Windows 10 directly. When you start it, make sure "Upgrade this PC now" is checked. It will download and install Windows 10, completing the upgrade automatically. In my experience, I didn’t need a product key and Windows 10 activated right after installation. Just keep your files and settings to ensure everything transfers smoothly.
