Hi, your Windows 8 OEM setup is fixed unless you reinstall. Upgrading to Windows 10 might change that, but it depends on the changes made.

Yes, it will work. You don’t need to worry about it being permanently on the motherboard. Just call them, and they’ll reactivate it for you without any questions.

Are you sure? You can contact Microsoft to confirm if they allow installing again.

I still run Windows 8 that came with a 500GB SSD from Craislist. The seller provided me with the key, and I've been using it nonstop since my seventh install. I haven't done a fresh setup either, so if they detect a change in the motherboard, just enter your installation ID and they'll return it easily.

Just keep it in mind, never lose your Windows keys or install a disc, but I can still open Windows 7 whenever required.
