Hello! When Windows 10 updates release, your installed programs remain intact unless you manually remove them. They’re not automatically deleted. If you want to keep them, just ensure they’re not in any settings that might wipe them out. To back them up, you can use system restore points or save files before making changes.

They should be okay. The windows media player won’t be available since it wasn’t added to Windows 10. That’s the only thing.

The Windows media player and Windows Media Center are distinct tools, with the latter being omitted from the current release.

I was attracted because your character matches someone I recognize. Probably because it's well-known. Just a note: when you set up Windows, it often clears the drive. I’m not sure if it’s just an update or something else.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 preview and ended up losing everything. It not only vanished all my data but also performed poorly. I plan to format the system and perform a clean installation today, but keep backups just in case, since things don’t always behave as Microsoft describes.

I think it will function similarly to upgrading from 7 to 8/8.1 or from 8 to 8.1, meaning you should be able to retain most of your existing applications—just possibly some that aren't compatible with Windows 10, which is a limited selection.

The main issue is finding it hard to link to my VPN compared to using Windows before.

This isn't a setback for anyone I understand.
