Windows 10
Windows 10
I plan to assemble a PC by late June. I don’t want to delay building it until Windows 10’s release in late July. Should I install Windows 8.1 now and upgrade later? Will there be a free upgrade option? I’d rather avoid being locked into Windows 8.1. Appreciate the advice!
You’ll be able to obtain the free upgrade immediately. It’s available for the initial year once Windows 10 is released, and it works even if you purchase a Windows 7 or 8.1 key halfway through the free upgrade period.
I’d try to secure the insider preview (beta) version of Windows 10 first. Once it becomes the official release, I’d purchase it. This way I already have the operating system disk ready. Of course, this only works if you don’t already have Windows installed on your system. If you do have a legitimate copy, I’d take advantage of the free upgrade option.
