When setting up a PC, installing Windows is essential. If you purchase a Windows 10 Home edition USB from the provided link, will it include basic Microsoft apps like Word and Excel? Thank you ahead of time!

You need to obtain them individually.

You have the freedom to choose any operating system you prefer—it doesn’t have to be Windows.

Was everything always this way? I’ve only purchased ready-made PCs or laptops. I’m starting to assemble my first one, so I wasn’t sure if Microsoft Office came pre-installed with Windows 10. Can I connect my Microsoft apps to an account? And if I upgrade later, can I log in with the same account and download the software? I’ve only used Windows before, so I’m more familiar with it.

Office is completely separate from Windows. Most PCs I own come with an Office demo instead of the full suite.

I wasn't aware of that... Sigh, the price for my first PC build just went up.

Office is now mostly offered through a subscription service. You can purchase the standalone version for around $300, but it doesn’t receive updates like the paid plan. Additionally, getting a subscription lets you install it on almost any computer, and even after upgrading, it works on the new system.

If you prefer not to rely heavily on Microsoft Office, LibreOffice offers a free option. It may not be as refined, but it’s completely free.

Are you referring to Office 365? I don't want to pay for Microsoft Office subscriptions. I'm checking that now. Right now I'm using WPS Office on my laptop. After updating to Windows 10, Microsoft Office vanished from my device.

Full Office is a cloud-based office package. Buying it directly means you won’t receive updates beyond security patches. Office Pro versions cost around $100 and require a specific key site, with the same update restrictions. For advanced Excel use, LibreOffice may not meet your needs.
