Hello everyone, I’m facing a problem with my USB devices. When trying to eject my external hard drive, I receive the message: “This device is currently in use.” In the Event Viewer, the log shows an application stopping the removal or ejection process for the device. My setup includes an A Asus Crosshair viii Hero X570 motherboard with a Ryzen 3700X and 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 3600MHz. I’m curious if anyone has encountered this issue.

It's likely your antivirus is analyzing the disk. Additional reasons could involve a malware file residing on it.

Yes, there are programs that run similar to what you described. You can start in safe mode, then remove the drive and eject it.

Choose one USB drive or several? If just one, open Device Manager, go to Disk Drives, select the USB, navigate to Policies, switch to another setting, click OK. Unplug and replug it. Try ejecting again—if successful, reset the policy and test again.

Hello, I'm having trouble with my external USB hard drive and flash drive. The ejection process works fine, but once I plug it back in, it won't let me eject it again. I tried the solution you provided earlier, but the issue persists.

It is not allowing you to eject the drive under the warranty or service agreement policies.
