Generally, copying an HDD to an SSD isn't a good choice.

I'm not completely confident about that. I used Segate's DiskWizard to duplicate my laptop HDD to my SSD, connected both drives to my PC, and everything worked perfectly.

Cloning is fine, I've personally done it hundreds of times with no repocussions at all however nowadays I just use Windows built in System Imager.
