Hi EMENCII, you don’t need to format the old HDD. Just use the installation CD to transfer the files directly to the SSD without cloning.

Avoid reinstalling your OS without fully wiping the SSD. Otherwise, you might face BSODs and crashes later.

You're aiming for a fresh Windows 8 setup. I understand your concerns about the hard drive space and cloning. It seems you're unsure if the installation will recognize your key again.
