I made no changes, but recently something began loading unexpectedly. It’s unclear what’s happening—everything seems to stop and my pointer shows a blue loading circle. Occasionally I see the end process box when a program isn’t responding, but the title bar still displays MS Windows. I rarely do anything except install Steam updates or game patches. There’s a good all-in-one free system checker available. It might be running slowly.
Did the computer experience any recent issues? It might be due to a damaged hard drive, malware infection, or a corrupted Windows update. I’m unsure how serious it is, but your typing suggests something unexpected happened—like sudden slowness. Here are some steps you can try: 1) Run a scan with Malwarebytes or Windows Defender Security (use the latest version). 2) Open Task Manager and look for processes using 100% of resources. 3) Perform a clean installation of Windows. 4) Consider replacing the HDD with an SSD if possible, as this can greatly improve performance. Also, try using Ccleaner.
My drive is clean, no infections detected. It appears to have begun a couple of updates recently. Could be the well-known Windows issue, I’ll test the disk health during the next reboot. It’s not bad, but it runs slower than usual.
