In mid October 2025, several sites encountered difficulties linking to a shared printer on their local network or to a shared drive/folder. The issue was consistently linked to KB5066835. The only solution was uninstalling the update, after which Microsoft promptly reinstalled it, causing the problem again within hours. I attempted to pause the updates for five weeks, hoping they would resolve the matter. At all locations, the problem persisted until today. Now I receive calls, and the issue has returned after a week of automatic updates starting last Friday. The current update responsible is KB5068661. This update needs to be removed from each device sharing the printer or network folder; otherwise, connectivity remains broken. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating with these frequent disruptions.

I noticed someone else reporting similar issues on the Microsoft community forum, specifically about KB5068861 affecting Windows Server 2025 Datacenter systems. The problem involves network access after automatic updates and prompts for credentials even as a domain admin. Re-enabling sharing features didn’t resolve it.

The situation is worsening, and I’m unsure if this is just AI-driven support from Microsoft. If this trend continues, perhaps Microsoft should consider switching to alternative tools like chatGPT to address such challenges.

I’ve shared a message on the Microsoft community page about these difficulties, hoping it will help raise awareness and prompt a response from the company.
