Will you notice any variation from your underclocked RAM and upgraded CPU?
I just installed 24 GB (three sticks) of G Skill Sniper DDR3 1600 and increased the CPU to 4ghz. As a result, my RAM is running a bit underclocked below the 800mhz setting in BIOS, now around 762mhz. I’m curious if this change would be noticeable and whether it’s safe to slightly overclock the RAM instead of underclocking. I’m currently using 1.564v and the label says it’s rated for 1.5v at 1600, so I’m unsure if going higher is safe with this RAM. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!
Even standard measurements will struggle to detect the speed variation, let alone in actual use. A little extra power won't cause harm, and with all slots occupied it's typical to boost voltage for stability. If it's an AMD setup, the CPU temperatures might rise slightly but not be concerning.

Yup CountMike has observed that 3Dmark results remain consistent across various RAM speeds, though this holds true for his AMD configuration. Adjusting the CPU frequency and Northbirdge appears to deliver the greatest improvements in physics and frame rates.
