Will upgrading to the i5-14400F enhance gaming and engineering software performance?
Will upgrading to the i5-14400F enhance gaming and engineering software performance?
Hello everyone. I’d like to start by confirming my PC specifications before addressing my question:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
GPU: RTX 4060 8GB Asus Dual Fan
RAM: VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz
Display: Asus TUF Gaming VG259Q3A (24.5-inch, 1080p, 180Hz)
Storage: Crucial P2 500GB NVMe SSD
3TB WD Blue HDD
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M S2H V2
I’ve noticed unstable gaming performance and frequent frame drops lately. I think the CPU could be limiting the GPU’s capabilities, so I’m considering selling my current CPU, motherboard, and RAM to upgrade to an Intel i5-14400F with Asus Prime B760M-A DDR4. My budget is limited, but I rely on this PC for gaming and engineering tasks.
Questions:
Will switching to the i5-14400F noticeably enhance gaming and engineering software performance?
Have I heard any concerns about 14th-generation Intel CPUs? Are these issues still relevant for the i5-14400F?
Thank you for your assistance, and sorry for the lengthy message.
Similar models like the 5700X and 5800X are available, offering various options to enhance performance:

I checked the options: selling my CPU for $100 and selling the motherboard with the CPU plus the i514400f and b760 for $130. If I ignore $30, which choice is better?
The Intel CPU will show minor improvements in certain tasks. Similar performance levels are observed in other comparisons.
By now, those issues have been resolved. Really nothing to worry about.
