Hi, I’m checking if Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB 3600 CL16 (BL2K8G36C16U4B) fits your MSI B460I GAMING EDGE WIFI. Since it’s not listed in the MMO compatibility list, I’m worried about running it at full speed and need to downclock or adjust timings. I hope it works despite that, but I’d appreciate more community feedback.

Sure, it should function, but I’d likely begin with a Z490 or B560 model. Or opt for more affordable RAM options.

I’m opting for an i5 10400F and keeping costs low on a motherboard. The only other ITX option in my budget is the ASRock B560M-ITX/AC, which has one fewer USB port (only front panel ones left) and I already have four or five ports elsewhere. It supports Wi-Fi 5, but there were issues with the adapter on similar models like the B460M-ITX/AC, so I need reliable connectivity. I’m unsure if upgrading RAM would be worth it since I might end up needing an external Wi-Fi adapter and possibly a USB hub.

Opt for a more affordable 2666 or 3200 package instead, unless the 3600bkit matches its cost.

I picked Ballistix because it’s 15 dollars more than the ADATA XPG Gammix D10 3200 CL16, but I’ve heard Crucial chips are available on E-Die, which is great for overclocking. I’m not sure if that makes a big difference for underclocking and fine-tuning the speeds. Still, I wonder if the $15 extra is worth it.

At that pace on Intel, your performance won’t be significantly affected unless your budget is extremely limited—then you might want to reconsider where you spend it.
