It was actually my choice to ensure the color scheme didn’t look too flashy. She hasn’t planned ahead much since she hasn’t established a consistent system. Her main worry is that the case should match her pink peripherals.
This build looks really good. I’m having to reconsider the whole project. The price range seems just right, but it doesn’t include a monitor yet—I need to think about that.
Update: I realized the 4070 Super isn’t a good fit. I’d prefer a GPU around $300 to $400 and a monitor in the same range. That way we could afford it.
Also, I’m frustrated with AMD and NVIDIA taking advantage of the situation from years ago. We should stop supporting them like I did when I bought my 4070ti for over $800 last year. It’s time they offered better GPUs starting around $275 to $350 instead of the current $600 to $800 range. That’s my opinion.
If someone needs a budget-friendly PS, I just got the Corsair RM750e for $65. Amazon has a $20 discount coupon for another $20 off. It’s only one left—hope they restock soon.
It's a great deal on that PSU, without a doubt.
I had a set of Artic PWM/PST fans with the P400, and it performed very well. Back then I was using it with a 2700X and even with air cooling via a Hyper 212, it remained quite stable after replacing the front panel. I also added the accent strip lighting that comes with that case/brand, which created a nicely illuminated interior. The only downside is the dust accumulation inside when you don't clean it often (lol).
Regarding the Assassin cooler, it performs well for its price.
I have a mancave, the room is usually dark and the case is hidden under my desk where I rarely notice it when I'm using it, so let the dust bunnies cause trouble! 😄
... The clever thing is I've started noticing the heat from my leg when leaning against the glass next to the CPU/GPU...
I put the DeepCool AK620 CPU cooler on my system after upgrading. I was worried it might damage my board.
😱
... I'm just being dramatic, but there were some worries.
I wanted to skip another big upgrade for my kids' build, but if it's worth the cost, I'll go for it.
😎
I must admit a slight worry about these massive tower coolers. I remember from years past that was common, and after a few years people began experiencing problems that were hard to trace. These issues often stemmed from damage to the PCB or motherboard around the socket because of the heavy components hanging there. I hope that with better quality boards this problem won't happen again.
We experienced an era with relatively thin motherboards during Haswell/Skylake periods. As power demands increased and they required separate planes for faster PCIe speeds, they became thicker again. Additionally, the sockets have grown larger, which should help distribute the load more effectively.
If this applies, the already bought 6700XT remains the optimal option.
