I just got the RTX 5070 and I'm checking if my CPU might be limiting performance.
My CPU tends to throttle a lot, will this impact frame rates?
Currently I'm playing in 4K and get around 23-25 FPS in Horizon Forbidden West with the RTX 3060.
I aim for 50-60 FPS in Horizon Forbidden West with the RTX 5070.
Appreciate your suggestions.

Thermal throttling relies on several elements such as your case cooling, CPU cooling, motherboard VRAM, surrounding temperature, Vcore input, etc. In a perfect situation where these factors aren't obstacles, the CPU and GPU pairing should function properly.

Thank you for your response. I'm curious about the effect thermal throttling might have on FPS with the 5070.

It's quite challenging to forecast accurately. The outcome likely hinges on both the game being played and the level of throttling encountered.

Rtx 5070 works well compared to Rtx 3090 / 4070 Super. For Forbidden West, you'll notice similar results with a resolution of 5950x, as your CPU handles it faster so the 5070 should be more efficient.

Will the thermal throttling significantly impact the frames per second? I'm trying to understand the outcome.
I might have made a bad choice by choosing the RTX 5070, especially since I was on a tight budget.
🙁
The reviewer gave it a low rating.

Then why your CPU thermal throttles a lot?

Hailing from a 3060, the 5070 performs quite well. The improvement is significant, almost doubling the performance. However, if you plan to keep the card for two or more years, it might be worth the additional expense.
