Will the PSU support the overclocking?
Will the PSU support the overclocking?
I'm planning to upgrade this setup with a Rosewill Photon-750 power supply. I need to check if it's suitable for overclocking this configuration: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (8 phase), DDR3 1600 MHz, CAS 9 RAM, i7-4790k, Radeon R9 380X. The power supply is rated tier 3, which seems a bit low for serious overclocking, though some say it's tier 2. The voltage regulation is supposed to be average, but the ripple suppression and capacitors are rated as excellent. Please advise to avoid damaging the system. Thanks.
Yes, that power supply is capable of supporting the whole system along with the CPU overclock.
That power supply can handle overclocking all the devices you mentioned, but you probably won<|pad|>'so already near its maximum capacity.
The video at stock settings has a power consumption of 190 Watts.
To boost your 1600 memory to 2133, it’s unlikely you’ll achieve that increase—consider purchasing the higher memory model instead.
Yes that power supply should allow you to overclock everything you have, but don't expect much improvement with that graphics card—it's likely near its maximum capacity. The video at stock settings has a TDP of 190 Watts. For boosting your 1600 memory to 2133, you probably shouldn't try overclocking and should just purchase the higher model. Too late.
Already bought it, but I still want to push its performance as much as possible, especially for video editing.
