Hello, I'm trying to expand my Wi-Fi coverage throughout the house. I plan to connect using Google Wi-Fi and a Bitdefender Box 2. However, I also have a switch in my home, so will this configuration function properly? My setup should look like ISP modem → Bitdefender Box → switch → connecting to Google Wi-Fi, with all PCs linked afterward. Should I turn off the Wi-Fi on the ISP modem before proceeding? Thanks for your assistance!

You're right to question the setup. It sounds like your ISP box is actually a router, not just a modem. Your Bit Defender also appears to function as a router, likely because it supports WiFi and NAT. Adding Google Wi-Fi without proper configuration could introduce another layer of NAT. Internet access should be possible, but certain services might still be unavailable.

On the Bitdefender device, you can disable the router feature. They recommend following this path: IPSMODEM > Bitdefender Box > Router

It’s not just a modem—it’s a modem/router package. Disabling the WiFi in the unit doesn’t change its function. You need to switch it to bridge mode, provided your ISP permits it.

The ISP confirms this.

Begin bridge mode and connect via Google Wi-Fi as your router. Set up the ISP box in bridge mode, then place the Bit Defender box in its bridge mode configuration. Connect to the Google Wi-Fi router and switch it on.

Yes, it works well. Set the modem to bridge mode first, then configure Google Wi-Fi, followed by Bitdefender Box, and finally the switch. This setup should function properly for your Netgear GS116E.

The main idea behind the bit defender box is to allow all internet traffic to flow through it, enabling it to scan for viruses and similar threats. It should ideally sit between the modem and router, as that’s how it’s intended to function. Any Gigabit switch would suffice, provided there are sufficient ports available. The setup appears to be handled automatically, which is outside my usual scope. Someone might have better insights on this.

You're aware that Bitdefender should be placed between the modem and the Google Wi-Fi network. The next question is how to arrange the installation or setup sequence correctly.
