Will the 10700k upgrade require replacing your current cooling system?
Hello everyone, I’m currently running a 6700k (4.2GHZ) with a 2070 Super and am considering an upgrade to the 10700K. I’m not completely convinced it’s the best choice. My main concern is that my Cryorig H7 cooler might struggle with the increased power draw of the new chip, especially if I plan to overclock. I’m wondering if I’d need to replace the cooler as well. While I understand Ryzen offers better efficiency and newer architecture, I’m more focused on multitasking benefits. I’ve always preferred Intel systems, so I’m a bit hesitant about switching to Ryzen. The 14nm to 14nm transition isn’t changing much for me right now. Any thoughts would be helpful.
It’s around 2.67 million on the same deal, which means the H7 isn’t sufficient—10700k is roughly 9900k. It offers better speed than the Ryzen at peak times, but it comes with more power usage and a higher price tag.
The Noctua dual fans are highly regarded for their quiet operation and reliable performance.
The 9900k requires additional steps beyond basic overclocking, which means it hinges on your cooling preferences.
I understand you're looking for a cooler that can handle a moderate overclock without pushing it too far. Let me know if you'd like help finding the right option.
Simultaneously they aim to speed up clocks, which usually causes overheating beyond acceptable limits. Other alternatives include Dark Rock Pro 4 and Ninja 5.
Avoiding excessive force keeps you from missing out on smooth gaming and single-threaded speed, which is limited by a maximum single-core performance of 5.1GHz.
I mean is there anything better than the Noctua D15 for me to look at? Isn't that the flagship?
