Will overclocking my gpu memory without touching voltage damage it?
I noticed the VRAM on my GTX 750Ti lacks cooling or heat sink contact. Will overclocking it harm the VRAM? If I encounter artifacts while gaming at those settings, could it lead to lasting damage to the card?
If you notice any items, and they are original content related, you should reduce the overclock since it isn't stable technically. Concerning damage, it's possible for lasting harm with your approach, and as an overclock generally, you accept those risks. Still, I wouldn't want to play while having artifacts for an extra frame rate.
Should be fine, especially without adding voltage. I believe the voltage options only apply to GPU core as well. I would make small adjustments and test games, benches, ect. and keep going. If you see artifacts, back off the speed a bit and retest. I would not recommend continuing gaming with artifacts caused by vram OC, but its very unlikely to cause any damage unless you kept playing for awhile. Most likely, the game would crash long before any damage would occur.
The situation should be manageable, particularly without increasing voltage. The voltage adjustments seem to affect only the GPU core, so minor tweaks and testing would likely suffice. If artifacts appear occasionally during gameplay without crashes, they probably won’t cause lasting harm from VRAM overclocking. Damage is unlikely unless you play extensively.
