I'm really puzzled by this situation. The PC had stability problems for about three weeks. There were occasional DRAM lights, and turning it off and on resolved it. After a couple of days off, I powered it back on but it kept showing an orange DRAM light. I swapped the RAM and that didn't help. Then I bought another motherboard, which immediately lit up the CPU red light. When I put the old one back in, it showed the same orange DRAM as before with the same CPU. All fans are working properly. I've flashed BIOS on both boards, reset CMOS, tried single sticks and different slots. It seems a CPU could definitely cause a constant DRAM light. The motherboards I'm using are: Asus TUF B650 Plus with orange DRAM, Gigabyte B650 Eagle AC with red CPU, 4080 Super RAM Corsair Vengeance 2 x 16GB at 6000MHz, NZXT 850+ gold PSU.
Same RAM package or different brand? On AM4 platforms, Ryzen and Corsair often struggled with XMP settings, though this has improved on AM5 boards. It seems to matter more when one motherboard shows RAM LEDs while another struggles with CPU LEDs, suggesting the CPU side might be the issue (IMC; integrated memory controller).
Used the same RAM package I began the return process with, since everything is brand new. The warranty remains valid for all components. I plan to replace the CPU tomorrow and check if that resolves the issue. Thanks a lot! I’ll follow up with an update when I have it.
It's possible with a damaged CPU. I experienced a sudden shutdown of my 7800X3D when under stress, and the PC wouldn't boot afterward. The QLED screen also went black. I swapped out the board and RAM to test, but only the new CPU worked properly—my original board and RAM failed. *Note: I heavily overclocked the CPU using BCLK, LLC8 + positive CO/PBO, and high vSOC/VDDIO voltages. I didn't blame the chip, as it was operating far beyond specifications.*
Updated: CPU resolved all problems and errors from when I first assembled it. Rebuilt using original components plus the new CPU, and it worked immediately. Appreciate your assistance!
