Hey there.
Lately I've encountered a minor problem in games where I often stutter at the start, especially in battle royale titles like Fortnite.
My current setup is: MOBO: b350 Mortar, 8GB RAM (2 x 4 Crucial Ballistix Sport 2400Mhz), Ryzen 3 1200 with stock cooler, GTX 1060 Zotac Amp! Edition 3GB, PSU Seasonic s12/520W, HDD Seagate BarraCuda 2TB SATA 6Gb/s.
I'm playing on a standard 1366 x 768 PnP monitor at low settings.
Sometimes the lag is noticeable during the first few minutes or when entering battles, but it usually improves afterward.
It doesn’t occur as frequently in other games like Apex Legends.
I’m considering overclocking my Ryzen to 3.7 or 3.8—could that help reduce the stutter and make the game more stable?
Also, I’m thinking about upgrading to a Benq XL2546 240Hz 1080p monitor. Would that improve performance consistently?

Initially, I wanted to give a brief note about starting this comment. I haven't played Fortnite since early 2018, and even then I didn't play competitively. It's not an FPS, so it shouldn't be treated that way. Fortnite is a large, unoptimized game with lots of details. Try testing in zombies mode first before tackling the MMO/BR sections.

Your setup seems capable of running most games at 720p60 with low settings. Your graphics card should perform similarly to a RX 470/560. You should be able to reach at least 1080p60 or 1080p144 in most FPS titles. However, achieving 244hz on Fortnite is unlikely. You might manage smoother games like R6S or CS:GO at those speeds, but not Fortnite.

Fixing the optimization problems by overclocking isn't likely to help. It might be worth checking out Fortnite communities for possible solutions, such as forced optimization, game file edits, or mods.
