Will an AMD Ryzen 3 CPU require a GPU for older games?
I own a computer setup that's been stored away for a long time, running an AMD Ryzen 3 processor. I plan to convert it into a Windows 7 system with a SATA SSD and run older titles like Jade Empire and Star Wars KOTOR. I'm wondering if a dedicated GPU is necessary or if the integrated graphics will be enough. Given that the CPU already includes those features, should I proceed without a separate GPU?
It seems it's likely an R3 2200G or 2300G, as these APU models support Windows 7. They were based on the first Ryzen generations like 1200 and 1300. The graphics chip is decent for that era, but you'd need a dedicated GPU to achieve better performance and higher resolutions. Just check the recommended specs for the games you plan to play.
It really doesn't matter, even the first Ryzen would be better than top models before it and an APU at least would match dedicated GPUs at that time.
