I chose to switch to Windows 11 (currently using Windows 10 Pro). With my ROG pre-build setup, after a clean hard drive wipe and installing Windows 10 last year, the system activated automatically because of a digital license linked to my hardware. If I perform another wipe and install Windows 11 from a bootable media, will it follow the same activation process? It would be convenient if upgrading this way doesn’t require purchasing a new Windows 11 license key.

Try using an extra hard drive, disconnect Windows 10, connect it to a spare drive, test your idea and install Windows 11 to check if it works. If it does, you’re good; if not, you still have a valid Windows 10.

With an OEM license, it remains linked to the previous computer. You require a fresh one.
A retail license, however, is independent of any hardware and can be applied to another PC later.

What are the specifications of the system? Is it compatible with Windows 11?

Connect your license through an email address, and your license will enable activation of Win11. Whether the process is automatic or manual, you'll still be able to activate using the email link.

When you perform an upgrade, the license activates automatically. I always found it helpful to upgrade first, then connect to the internet, and finally run a clean install—regardless of whether it was version 11 or 10, it would always work.
